FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Tuesday was inauguration day at the Kentucky State Capitol and the governor and lieutenant governor were sworn into office in front of the public.
Governor, Andy Beshear is the 63rd governor of Kentucky.
During Governor Beshear’s inauguration speech, he said he’s ready to get to work and he wants people to feel welcome at the capitol.
“I intend to lead by example. I will strive to build an administration that does the same,” said Governor Andy Beshear.
One of his top priorities is funding public education and pensions.
“We will start by including a $2,000 all across the board raise in the budget we submit to the legislature,” said Governor Beshear.
Governor Beshear talked about healthcare and making sure people with preexisting conditions don’t lose it. He also wants to lower the cost of prescriptions.
He added he wants to build a better economy and believes that’s possible if Kentucky invests into agritech and advanced manufacturing.
Governor Beshear wrapped up his speech by saying it’s time for Kentucky to be one.
Following his speech, he was sworn in as governor with his family and lieutenant governor by his side.
