LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Laurel County sheriff’s deputies are searching for one of two suspects who led them on a chase through two counties, starting in Laurel County on Kentucky 30 and ending in a field in Jackson county.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, this morning a deputy saw a gold SUV going 70 miles an hour in an area where the posted speed limit was 55 miles per hour.
That deputy says when he tried to pull the SUV over, it started going over 100 miles per hour about 8 miles into Jackson County.
It then apparently intentionally went into a ditch line, up a bank, crashed through three fences, and finally stopped in a field at a heavily wooded area, where the two suspects got out and ran.
Deputies say one of those men violently assaulted them before they were able to arrest him.
His name hasn’t been released.
The other suspect is still on the run.
