LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Breakout Games did a Christmas themed escape room for the children at Kentucky Children’s Hospital to get them into the Christmas spirit.
In 2017, 13-year-old Dalton Green was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder that caused the swelling of his brain and spinal cord tissue.
Today he says he is doing great and thanks to Breakout Games he got to save Christmas by finding Santa’s hat.
“Well for patients and their families, in order to do this it just, I feel like it allows them to be a kid again and instead of having to do treatment all day long, that they can actually go and be a kid and not have to worry about, “Is this going to happen?” it distracts them from why they’re in the hospital,” Green said.
The escape room has been up for two weeks and is coming down this weekend but one to two patients got to experience it each day, everything in the escape room was easily disinfected for each patient.
We asked dalton what he wants for Christmas and he said all he wants is for his dad to come home, who is currently deployed overseas.
