ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A child support office manager is indicted after being accused of stealing money from a payroll account in Boyd County.
Kentucky State Police say in September they received a call from the Boyd County Child Support Office about its office manager, 55-year-old Mary Pickett, of Flatwoods.
KSP say Pickett was fired and escorted out of the office the day the allegations surfaced.
After an investigation, State Police say they discovered a large amount of money was taken over several years from the payroll account. They say no money had been taken from any child support account or case.
KSP says Pickett forged the name of another county official multiple times to get more money.
On November 26, 2019, the case was presented to the Boyd County Grand Jury and Pickett was indicted on theft by unlawful taking and forgery, according to State Police.
The case remains under investigation.
