GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Christmas came a little early for students living in Scott County.
Georgetown College announced in the fall of 2020, any newly admitted, full-time, residential student who graduated from a high school in Scott County or who has been a resident in the county for at least one year will receive the Legacy and Legends Scholarship.
“I had a couple other scholarships from other schools that I was considering, but like not really any of them were full tuition so this is really awesome and put it on my radar,” said Arianna McCurry, Scott County High School Senior.
This scholarship will be handed out every year for the next ten years and each scholarship is worth about $160,000.
The scholarships are being funded by donors.
Students must get accepted into Georgetown College to use the scholarship and must live on campus for four years. In addition, students will have to pay for room and board.
Financial aid and other scholarships are available to help pay for housing.
The president of the college says this year’s freshman class was one of the largest its had in years. He hopes this scholarship opportunity will bring even more students to campus.
