Lexington Mayor victim of pick-pocketing ring

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton’s office says she was the victim of a pick-pocketing ring last year before she became mayor.

Police arrested Andrea Lopez-Poblete last week and accused her of being part of a traveling Chilean pick-pocketing group.

Police say she and another suspect are accused of stealing Gorton’s wallet from her purse at Panera Bread on Nicholasville road in January of last year.

Court documents say the two suspects then went to Target and Best Buy and charged thousands of dollars on Gorton’s credit cards.
