INEZ, Ky. (WTVQ) – The troubled Martin County Water District will be under new management in 2020, according to a social media post from the water district.
Alliance Water Resources will manage the county’s water and sewer operations beginning January 1, 2020, according to the online post.
A news conference is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2019, to make the official announcement.
The county has been plagued by water quality, delivery and budget issues for decades. Customers pay some of the highest water rates in the state in one of the poorest county’s in Kentucky.
A report released in October suggested water wasn’t affordable for nearly half the customers in the county.
