LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Another family received the keys to their forever home today… through Lexington Habitat for Humanity.
The couple is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and came to Lexington as refugees over a decade ago.
After spending two years attending homeownership classes and completing sweat equity in Lexington habitat’s homebuyer program, this couple is finally ready to move in.
With English still a bit shaky for the couple…we got some help translating from a friend.
“It’s been a long time, a long journey. I wanted to have my own house but it wasn’t my time and now I feel it’s my time. God has blessed me with a home,” Tengeneza Kashindi and Asende Wesesa said.
The two were surrounded by family and friends to celebrate and break in their new home.
He says he’s happy that he now has a lot of land and a fence for his backyard.
