The new two million square foot facility is a full hemp based operation focused on finding ways to use every piece of the plant from the root to the top.

“You’re going to see food and beverage and food supplement products across the nation that start to incorporate the use of hemp drive compounds,” said Reid Parr, Co-Founder.

Parr says a big research project is happening now that’s trying to find ways to use hemp in pet and equine foods.

The opening of the facility has also brought hundreds of new jobs to Bourbon County.

Parr says there is about 150 full-time jobs and about 200 part-time.

One of the new employees is Andy Bishop who was hired as the director of farm services.

Bishop raised cattle and hens, but decided to join the hemp business because he sees it as a crop with a big future.

“We’re going to see an explosion in the hemp industry,” said Andy Bishop.

AgTech Scientific is going to expand with another building for extraction and manufacturing.

Another 50 employees are expected to be hired.
