SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fast food worker has been diagnosed with hepatitis A, according to the Pike County Health Department.
Health officials say the employee was diagnosed September 11, 2019.
The person works at the KFC at 151 Appalachian Plaza in South Williamson, according to officials.
The health department says an investigation found that the risk of customers becoming infected is “very low.”
KFC is working closely with the health department to prevent any new cases from arising.
The viral infection could take up to seven weeks before someone gets ill after being exposed, according to health officials.
Careful hand washing and vaccination for those at-risk of infection can help prevent the spread of the disease.
