LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton on Wednesday joined Councilmember Jennifer Reynolds and representatives of the Foundation for Latin American and Latin Culture and Arts – FLACA – in a celebration of Festival Latino de Lexington, which is scheduled for Sept. 13-15.
“The Festival Latino de Lexington celebrates the 18th anniversary of honoring Hispanic Heritage month. Come join us,” Reynolds said. “Muchas Culturas … Una Ciudad. Many Cultures … One City.”
Gorton presented a proclamation to FLACA Board members Yamel Patterson-Muñoz and Freddy Peralta declaring Sept. 13-15 “Festival Latino de Lexington Weekend.”
“Latin Americans enrich our community through contributions in education, medicine, business, law, sports, religion, science, entertainment, and the arts,” the proclamation states.
The festival features live music, dance, visual arts and authentic cuisine. Friday night is tropical night, and will include authentic Latin foods, live music and dancing.
The Friday and Saturday celebration is on the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza, downtown at 120 N. Limestone St. On Sunday from 1-5 p.m., there will be a health fair from 1-5 p.m. at Masterson Station Park.
The festival is co-sponsored by Lexington Parks & Recreation and FLACA.
