LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – With Lexington expecting temperatures to be in the 90s and the heat index above 100 this week, the city’s Division of Waste Management will be adjusting its regular waste collection window.
Officials say commercial pickups through Friday will begin at 3 a.m., while residential pickups will start at 4 a.m.
These times will reduce employees’ risk of heat-related injuries such as dehydration and other heat-related illnesses by finishing all routes before temperatures peak.
They say waste carts should be placed on the curb the night before collection to ensure service.
