Georgetown police arrest suspect in school burglary


GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police arrested a man they say burglarized Georgetown Middle School overnight.

According to the Georgetown Police Department, someone broke into the school and stole items. Police stepped up patrols around the area after receiving a report about the burglary.

On Thursday morning, police say they took 19-year-old Braydon Bays into custody. He’s charged with burglary and theft.

Schools in Georgetown were already on edge after a student was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to Great Crossing High School Wednesday. Schools across Kentucky were also dealing with the threat of a possible shooting, though the FBI deemed the threat “not credible.”
