LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for assaulting someone at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, according to the United States Attorney Eastern District of Kentucky.
Officials say Brandon Terelle Ewing previously admitted that, in January of 2018, at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, he slapped the victim and used his forearm to push the victim backwards, causing the victim to hit his head on the bed railing.
Ewing also admitted that, as a result of this conduct, the victim required medical treatment for a closed head injury, which caused the victim to fall into a coma, and ultimately resulted in the victim’s death, according to the United States Attorney Eastern District of Kentucky.
They say Ewing pleaded guilty to the charge in April of 2019.
They say Ewing was ordered to pay $12,599.48 in restitution to the victim’s family.
Under federal law, Ewing must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence; and upon his release, he will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for three years.
