Morehead man arrested after high speed chase

Bath County, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Morehead man is behind bars, accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in Bath County.

The Morehead News reports Jonathan Watkins was driving a motorcycle in Owingsville Saturday when he approached a police checkpoint.

According to the paper, Owingsville officers followed Watkins after seeing him make an illegal U-turn then drive off quickly toward Sharpsburg.

The News says Watkins led officers on a chase for more than 5 miles at more than 90 miles per hour, making two other cars run off the road.

Watkins was taken to the Clark County Detention Center. He faces several charges, including felony fleeing and evading police and two counts of second degree wanton endangerment.
