NICHOLAS COUNTY , Ky. (WTVQ) – A Nicholas County man is accused of burning down his mother’s home, killing her pets that were inside.
The fire broke out last week at the woman’s home in Carlisle.
According to the arrest citation for 23-year-old Jody Sapp, when Nicholas County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene of the fire, Sapp’s mother told them he burned her house down.
She also said her four cats and two dogs were in the home and died in the fire.
A witness told deputies she saw Sapp pour gasoline throughout the home, according to the citation.
Deputies say Sapp told them he got into a fight with his mother and blacked out. He says he then started feeling hot and ran outside to get water. Deputies say Sapp stated when he was unable to put out the fire, he ran away from the scene.
