The team designed and built its solar car from scratch using $24,000 team members raised.

The teammates say they are thrilled with their performance and they are excited to be trailblazers in the state.

“We surpassed our expectations by a lot. It is amazing. I hope we can inspire other teams from Kentucky to make their programs and to learn new things because this experience is honestly the best experience I’ve been through,” Jaycie Bussell said.

Now, the team heads back home, bringing their car, “The Appalachian Spirit”, with them.
