LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man faces several charges, after Lexington Police say he fought with officers while being intoxicated, and pulled out a knife cutting one of the officers in the hand.
It happened Monday night on Versailles Road and Halls Lane.
According to the arrest report, 77-year-old John Black was walking on the sidewalk on Versailles Road with an open alcoholic beverage.
Police say when they approached him, Black pulled out a knife from his pocket and walked into the middle of the road.
The arrest report says officers attempted to pull him out of the road, but he resisted.
Police say Black started fighting with officers forcing them to the ground.
They say when Black fell to the ground, he tried to grab the knife and officers had to take it away.
The report says that an officer was cut on the hand during the incident.
Black is charged with assault, wanton endangerment, alcohol intoxication in public place, and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
