LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Emergency Management is scheduled to test Fayette County’s outdoor warning sirens on Tuesday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m., to avoid potential conflicts with July 4th events.
If you live near a park or golf course, expect to hear the outdoor siren sound a series of chimes followed by a voice announcement, “This is a test.”
People are asked not to call 9-1-1 about the siren test.
Lexington’s outdoor siren system is designed to alert people who are outdoors. The siren system is not intended to alert people inside homes, apartments or buildings.
The test may be canceled if adverse weather conditions exist.
