EKU football player improving after being shot Sunday in Lexington


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- An EKU football player’s mother says her son is improving after he was shot Sunday outside a Lexington bar.

Lexington Police say the shooting happened outside Two Keys Tavern around 1:30 a.m.

According to officers, two men got into a fight then one went to his car to get a gun and shot the other man.

Kimberly Catron says her son, Cameron, was the young man who was shot.

Catron says Cameron had a second surgery Monday during which he lost 14 pints of blood, but survived.

Catron is from Pike County. He played at Belfry High School before red-shirting at EKU.

Police are searching for a suspect who has dreadlocks and was wearing a blue shirt.
