LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – People heading to the shooting range, or anywhere for that matter, soon will be able to conceal carry without a permit.
“We thought it would be a great idea to educate folks on all the reasons why you need to really consider getting your license and all the safety considerations, educational things that go into conceal carry,” said Doug Ramsey with Bud’s Gun Shop & Gun Range.
Ramsey says Bud’s is offering free seminars to make sure gun owners know the new law and what it allows and doesn’t allow.
“What are the prohibitors as far as who can carry? What kind of items can you carry? Where are the prohibited places and so on down the line? What are the circumstances in which you can justifiably employ a deadly weapon?” said Ramsey.
Senate Bill 150 passed during the legislative session, and caused a lot of debate both for and against it. But with permitless concealed carry soon becoming the law, Ramsey believes education is key.
“If folks can educate, will come into the seminar, check out what we have to say about it, educate themselves by reading the law, then they’ll be very far ahead as far as if they want to employ or carry concealed deadly weapons in Kentucky,” said Ramsey.
The first seminar takes place on June 27.
