LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Special Olympics starts this weekend and to kick it off, law enforcement is doing the annual torch run.
Officers all across the state run to raise awareness for Special Olympics.
While they run, a couple of officers will carry a torch called the flame of hope in honor of all the athletes.
“It’s a good way that we can have positive interactions with these individuals and show the community that these folks that are Special Olympic athletes are truly no different than anybody else,” said Sergeant Jeremiah Davis.
The games go all weekend at Eastern Kentucky University.
