MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A nurse is accused of sexually assaulting a patient.
State police say it happened several times during one visit at Baptist Health Richmond.
49 year old, Alvin Buckmaster from Berea is accused assaulting his patient while he was treating her in October.
KSP says surveillance video from Baptist Health shows Buckmaster alone with the patient nine different times for just a few minutes at a time.
In court documents, KSP says the victim told troopers the nurse touched her inappropriately and forced her to do the same to him when he collected urine and blood samples and when he came by her hospital room with a blanket and pillow.
State police arrested Buckmaster Tuesday afternoon.
“I think these allegations caught a lot of people by surprise. I know earlier today when I heard about them I was quite surprised, and I spoke to our investigator and he had the same kind of thought,” said Trooper Robert Purdy.
Baptist Health Richmond released a statement saying, “The nurse is no longer employed by the hospital. Baptist Health Richmond has fully cooperated with Kentucky State Police in their investigation. The safety, and security, and care of our patients will always be our primary focus.”
The victim agreed to have a sexual assault examination and KSP is using her clothes for DNA evidence.
Buckmaster faces a charge of first degree sexual abuse and will be in court for it at the end of this month.
