CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police honored a fallen trooper in their annual observance of National Police Officers Memorial Week.
KSP Post 11 placed a wreath on the grave of Trooper Elmer Mobley Jr. on Wednesday morning. Trooper Mobley is buried at Oneida Settlement School in Clay County.
KSP says Trooper Mobley died in a car crash May 28, 1964 while responding to a call in Pike County. They say the car hit large rocks that had fallen in the road and were hidden by dense fog and heavy rain. Trooper Cecil W. Uzzle was accompanying Trooper Mobley on this ride and also died in the accident.
KSP says Trooper Mobley had served with them for four and a half years.
