LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington restaurant employee has tested positive for hepatitis A, according to health officials.
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reports an employee at Roosters at 124 Marketplace Drive, was diagnosed with a confirmed case of hepatitis A.
Health officials say, while it is relatively uncommon for restaurant customers to become infected with the hepatitis A virus due to an infected food handler, customers who ate at the restaurant on April 16, 2019 are advised to get a hepatitis A vaccination.
The department says the employee remains off work until cleared to return.
The department also says environmental health inspectors have worked with the restaurant to ensure proper cleaning of the restaurant and reviewed recommendations regarding employee health and exclusion of ill workers going forward.
