FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hundreds of people in Eastern Kentucky could be getting back their Social Security benefits.
More than 800 clients of disbarred Eastern Kentucky attorney Eric Conn lost their benefits as a result of one of the largest cases of Social Security fraud in history.
According to Ned Pillersdorf, an attorney who has represented several of Conn’s former clients, a motion was filed Sunday, asking that Conn’s clients have all their Social Security benefits restored.
This motion comes following a decision by the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals last week.
According to the Herald-Leader, the court denied the Social Security Administration’s request for another hearing on its ruling in November that found the agency used an unconstitutional process to block disability benefits for hundreds of Conn’s clients.
The Social Security Administration has not responded to the ruling or indicated what it will do next.
Pillersdorf announced on his Facebook page that a meeting will be held Tuesday, April 2 at 4 p.m. at the courthouse in Prestonsburg for all former clients of Eric Conn.
He says the meeting will bring people up to date on the case.
