NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is charged after police say he crashed his car into the bedroom of child who had left the room a short time before.
The Nicholasville Police Department says 22-year-old Julio Herrera was driving down Barnes Street in Nicholasville around 1 a.m. Thursday when his car left the road and hit a tree.
Herrera put the car in reverse and slammed into a home, striking the bedroom of a young boy, according to police.
They say the boy had just left the room before the crash.
Police say Herrera took off, but officers were able to track him down and arrested him.
Herrera faces several charges, including driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police say no one was injured in the home.
