MAGOFFIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Wet weather is on the way and that has several counties worried because they still haven’t fully recovered from last weekend’s heavy rain.
Paul Howard and his family live in Magoffin County and suffered flooding damage last weekend.
“With all the losses in just this little section we’re probably looking at 50,000 to 60,000 dollars,” said Paul Howard.
Howard said it was a flash flood that came up within a hours time, stayed for about three hours, and then was gone.
The family is doing what they can to prepare for more rain by putting things like campers, boats, and four-wheelers to higher ground.
The Magoffin County Emergency Management staff members are working 12 hour shifts daily in an effort to keep up.
The director says the extra rain will put them even more behind, but they will do what they can to keep the damage minimal.
