Drew Barrymore film to cause street closures in Lexington


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hollywood has made it’s way to the Bluegrass.

Lexington-based Wrigley Media Group will begin filming scenes of, ” THE STAND-IN,” starring Drew Barrymore this morning in downtown Lexington and downtown Versailles.

According to the Mayor’s office; Short Street, Main Street, and Vine Street between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Mill Street, will all be closed between 9:30 this morning until 2 p.m.

Versailles Police say some of the roads will be closed downtown Versailles at different parts of the day.

They also say parts of Amsden Coffee Shop are closed through Thursday for filming, according to their Facebook page.

Wrigley Media Group says knowing the area well with all the scenery around them; the decision to film scenes here in Lexington made sense.

” With the beauty of the Bluegrass, and the beauty of downtown Lexington, it was an easy decision from that point on,” said Jayne Hancock, CEO of Wrigley Media Group.

Wrigley Media Group says over 9,000 candidates applied for various scenes of ” THE STAND-IN”.

They say casting-calls for extras have closed but encourages everyone in the community to stay tuned for bigger projects.
