POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A quiet section of Virden Ridge in Powell County could soon be home to a landfill.
Cindy Geddes lives on Virden Ridge Road, where Blaze Enterprises plans on putting a landfill. She thinks it’s not safe for drinking water.
“I cannot believe that they would ever go to the top of the hill to create a landfill to begin with,” said Geddes.
But it’s not just what’s going into the landfill that bothers those that live on Virden Ridge, it’s the trucks that will be moving back and forth on the road folks say is too small, windy and steep.
Danny Smith’s property is right next to the land picked for the landfill. He’s a truck driver himself, and says trucks should have no business being on the road.
