Sayre School sends out statement following students’ deaths
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington school is remembering two brothers killed in a crash over the weekend.
Roan and Neo Sanders died after the car they were in hit a tree off Harrodsburg Road around 4 a.m. Sunday.
The 17-year-old and 15-year-old both attended Sayre School in Lexington.
“This morning, Sayre students and faculty gathered privately to reflect on two remarkable young men who brought joy, laughter, and kindness to our community. Our focus is on mourning and healing, and to provide support to our students, families, and faculty,” Barb Milosch, director of communications, said in a statement Monday. “Please respect our privacy as we grieve the passing of Roan and Neo Sanders.”
Police say the crash wasn’t discovered for almost five hours after it happened.
The 18-year-old driver survived.
Police say he was trapped in the car and suffered severe leg injuries.
