LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Health officials are reporting a case of hepatitis A at a Lexington restaurant.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department confirms a food-handler at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, located at 321 E. Vine Street, was diagnosed with hepatitis A.

The health department says customers who ate at the restaurant from January 23-February 8 may have been exposed to the hepatitis A virus and are advised to get a hepatitis A vaccination.

Health officials say it is relatively uncommon for restaurant customers to become infected with the virus because of an infected food handler, but anyone who consumed food or drink at the locations during the times stated should get the vaccine.
