LICK CREEK, Ky. (WTVQ)- A teenager from Lick Creek was taken into police custody Sunday evening after Kentucky State Police was called to reports that the male had attempted to poison his mother, according to the Appalachian News-Express.
The citation in the case said the Kentucky State Police Trooper Jarrett Fields responded to a residence on Lick Creek where a woman claimed her son, identified as Justin Adkins, 18, of Lick Creek Road, Lick Creek, had attempted to poison her “by pouring bleach” into her drink. Fields wrote in the citation that he smelled the drink which had been tampered with and was able to smell bleach coming from the drink.
When confronted, Adkins “advised he did put bleach into her drink, but only a little bit,” the citation said. Adkins told the officer “he wanted (his mother) to get sick, but he did not want her to die from the consumption of the bleach,” the citation said.
The newspaper says Fields took a recorded statement from Adkins and placed him under arrest on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault (domestic violence), court records show. Adkins was taken into the custody of the Pike County Detention Center Sunday evening, according to jail documentation
