MT. STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ)- Mt. Sterling Police say a woman led them on a high speed chase from Montgomery County to Lexington Tuesday afternoon.
Police say they were called to Walmart for a welfare check, when they arrived 30-year-old Tiffany Watkins was leaving the parking lot. When police tried to conduct a traffic stop, Watkins led police on a pursuit on I-64 towards Lexington.
Police say the chase reached speeds of close to 100 mph. They say Winchester and Lexington police closed off exits in order to help catch Watkins. Watkins stopped at the -75 split on I-64 and got out and tried to run off. Police were able to catch and arrest her.
Watkins was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say no one else was hurt.
Watkins is charged with DUI, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, along with other charges.
