According to the Lexington Police Department, the man walked out in front of a Jeep that had to brake hard to avoid hitting him.

The Jeep stopped to let him pass but the driver of the pickup in the next lane didn’t see the man and struck him.

A nurse was on the scene and administered first aid to the victim until the ambulance arrived, according to police.

He was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit is on the scene investigating.

Police say alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident.
