MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – The sounds of prayers echoed as the people of Morehead locked hands in an emotional prayer vigil for the missing child swept away by floodwaters Sunday afternoon.
“To watch another mom go through this is unbelievable,” said Martina Wagoner, a friend of the child’s mother.
Wagoner isn’t alone, as complete strangers attended the vigil.
“It’s really sad and my heart is just so heavy,” said Morehead resident Brittany Skeens.
Mayor Jim Tom Trent addressed the crowd before the vigil began. He’s making sure everyone knows his community won’t stop until the young man is found.
“We are going to do everything we can in our power, whether it’s prayer, whether it’s working together with our first responders, whether it’s walking the banks of Triplett Creek, whatever. So many people have reached out to me and first responders and wanting to know what they can do,” said Mayor Trent.
