LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Firefighters were called to a fire at West Third Street and Newtown Pike early Monday morning, which displaced three people.
Firefighters say they were called just after 2:30 a.m. Monday because of heavy smoke in the area.
They say the first floor houses a business and there are three apartments on the second floor.
Firefighters evacuated the building and they said all three adults in the building made it out safely.
They say there wasn’t actually that much fire, just a large amount of smoke.
The three adults were displaced by the fire and firefighters say the Red Cross has been contacted to help them.
Firefighters also say a dog died in the fire.
Newtown Pike was shut down for several hours in both directions while crews worked the fire.
