LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman is accused of pouring gasoline on her husband and setting him on fire during an argument, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they arrested 40-year old Vera Wooten, of Corbin, around 9:35 p.m. Monday after responding to a domestic violence complaint off Woodland Court, approximately 10-miles south of London.
Investigators say after Wooten set her husband on fire, she drove him to Saint Joseph Hospital London. Cincinnati’s burn center sent its helicopter to London to transport Wooten’s husband for treatment. Deputies say he was burned over 50-percent of his body and was in critical condition. His name was not released.
Vera Wooten was charged with Assault, 1st Degree – Domestic Violence. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
