Funeral held for Officer Nick Rodman
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Thousands came to bid a final farewell to a fallen Louisville police officer on Tuesday.
Nick Rodman, who was a Georgetown College graduate, was killed in the line of duty last week.
Rodman served on the Louisville police force for three years.
About five thousand people showed up to pay their respects to the married father of two young children.
Rodman was remembered as being a compassionate brother-in-arms to his fellow officers.
“He showed us that quality last June when one of the members of his squad, Officer Kyle Carol, was shot,” says Louisville Metro Police Chief, Steve Conrad. “Nick was one of the officers who helped clear the route. Nick was one of the officers who helped carry Kyle into the hospital. Tragically, but perhaps fittingly, it was also Carol who drove Nick to the hospital after Tuesday evening’s collision.”
Officer Rodman was killed after his cruiser collided with a car he was chasing last week.
The suspect behind the wheel, James Woods, is facing murder charges.
