$20,000 grant aids Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation, on behalf of the Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East, has received a $20,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children that will be used to purchase equipment that will assist the hospital’s most vulnerable patients – newborns.
The equipment will be added to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and Birthing Center. With the grant, the hospital will purchase Novii ™ Wireless Patch Systems to place on mothers during labor.
This monitoring system non-invasively measures and displays the fetal heart rate. The Novii ™ Wireless Patch System will eliminate the need for the two separate systems used currently, according to the hospital.
“We are excited about this new equipment because we know expectant mothers and their newborns will be the ones to benefit from this new system,” said Leslie Buddeke Smart, CFRE, president of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. “This equipment will allow staff to closely monitor and provide specialized care to mothers and babies, especially those facing medical challenges. During this vulnerable time, it’s important to make sure we have the best equipment for mothers and their newborns, and we are thankful to WHAS Crusade for Children for helping make this possible.”
“We take pride in being able to help so many children across the state with special needs, and we know this new equipment will benefit so many babies here in the Lexington area,” said Dawn Lee, president and CEO of the WHAS Crusade for Children. “We are thrilled to be able to help the hospital’s youngest and most vulnerable patients and are looking forward to hearing how the equipment makes a difference in the lives of local families.”
The Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East is the only freestanding Lexington hospital dedicated to Women’s and Neonatal Health Services and is a leader in central Kentucky for neonatal intensive care services.
