20-year-old dies in head-on crash Wednesday morning

VANCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 20-year-old Vanceburg man was killed Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle pile up in Lewis County.

According to  the Kentucky State Police, Triston Burriss was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on KY 9 in Vanceburg which was reported at about 6:15 a.m. to troopers.

Investigators determined Burriss was northbound on Ky 9 in a Chrysler 200 when he tried to pass a Chevrolet Traverse SUV driven by 53-year-old Shelley L. Neal, from Iowa, troopers said in a statement.

Burriss’ Chrysler collided with a Ford Fusion driven by 25-year-old Gaven Grayson, of Vanceburg, according to the KSP..

Grayson was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.  Shelley Neal and her passengers refused treatment at the scene.

Kentucky State Police was assisted by Vanceburg Fire and Rescue, Lewis County EMS, Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and Lewis County Coroner’s Office.
