2 sentenced for stealing items from cars at Daniel Boone National Forest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two women, convicted of breaking into vehicles parked in the Daniel Boone National Forest, and stealing items such as credit cards, have been sentenced to federal prison.

22-year-old Whitney Renae Maness, of Irvine, and 20-year-old Mikayla Danielle Hudson, of Versailles, were sentenced to 15 months in prison, and must pay restitution.

Both women admitted that, from August 16, 2015 until September 23, 2015, they stole personal property out of 19 vehicles parked in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Both defendants admitted that they broke out windshields, side windows, or rear windows of vehicles, with a tire iron or other objects, and stole property.

The personal property stolen belonged to 23 different people, and included clothing, climbing equipment, electronic equipment, credit cards, debit cards, reward cards, driver’s licenses, social security cards, and insurance and vehicle registration documents.

Following their release from prison, both defendants will be on supervised release for three years. During their period of supervision, Maness and Hudson are banned from entering
any recreation area within the Daniel Boone National Forest.
