2 people, dog rescued from partially frozen pond

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Two people and a dog have been rescued from a partially frozen pond in Louisville.

WHAS-TV (http://bit.ly/1MAmsYG) reports the people went out on the ice late Wednesday afternoon to try to rescue the dog and fell through themselves. The station reports the people and the dog are expected to recover.

Firefighters rescued the people and neighbor Nicole Young told WHAS she used her kayak to rescue the dog.

Kent Kruer, who is with the Harrods Creek Fire Department and serves on the Jefferson County special teams, says it is impossible to tell how thick the ice is and it’s safer to stay off of it.
