#2 Kentucky baseball moves on to host Super Regional

UK beats Indiana State 5-0 on Sunday to clinch the Lexington Regional title

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Pitcher Mason Moore earned the win on the mound as Kentucky baseball beat Indiana State 5-0 to go 3-0 in the Lexington Regional.

The Wildcats will advance to the Super Regionals of the NCAA Tournament next weekend at Kentucky Proud Park. For the second year in a row Kentucky has made a Super Regional, but this is the first time that the program will host the round.

Four different Wildcats found home plate, but two solo home runs highlighted the evening.

Ryan Nicholson’s top of the second bomb travelled over 400 feet from home plate to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. In the top of the seventh, Emilien Pitre homered to left field to extend the Kentucky lead to 5-0 as he drove in one run as well.

Kentucky will either play Oregon State or

UC Irvine in the Super Regional.
