2 children are dead after a crash on the Bluegrass Parkway

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Two toddlers are dead after a crash Sunday in Hardin County on the Bluegrass Parkway.

State police say around 3 PM two cars crashed on the parkway about five miles outside of Elizabethtown.

36-year-old George Smith from Lebanon was traveling west with four young kids and 27-year-old Crystal Shipp.

Troopers found the minivan’s rear driver side tire blew and caused Smith to lose control.

The minivan went into the median, turned over, and slid into the eastbound passing lane.

51-year-old Michael Reed, 56-year-old Linda Reed and their teenage daughter were in that lane.

Their car hit the overturned minivan.

They weren’t hurt.

Smith and Shipp are in stable condition in two different hospitals.

The four year old girl and three year old boy in their car were pronounced dead on the scene.

The other two children who were in the minivan are in stable condition.
