2 arrested after drugs found in Laurel Co.

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel County Sheriff says two women are in jail after being found with syringes and methamphetamine.

According to the Sheriff it happened early Sunday morning at about 3:40 a.m. near a business off West Cumberland Gap Parkway.

Deputies say they arrested 24-year-old Martha House and charged her with public intoxication after finding drugs and paraphernalia on her.  Deputies say House had fresh needle marks on her arms, and admitted that she had been shooting up methamphetamine only an hour before.  Deputies say they also found Ziploc baggies with a white crystalline substance inside.  According to investigators, House told them that it was methamphetamine mixed with Flakka, a synthetic stimulant.

27-year-old Vanessa Volter was also charged with public intoxication, and resisting arrest.  Deputies say when they approached her, she quickly entered a nearby business, even after she was told to stop.  When deputies went in the store, they say Volter began yelling and cursing, telling deputies “I am not going to jail.”  Investigators were eventually able to walk her out of the building and take her into custody.

Both were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
