Two arrested on bank robbery charges in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Two individuals are facing charges in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on May 21, 2024.

The incident took place around 4:20 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Forcht Bank on Southland Drive. Police say two suspects went into the bank and demanded money before making their escape. Leveraging technology in the Real-Time Intelligence Center, which encompasses traffic cameras, license plate readers, and Fusus, investigators successfully identified the suspects.

Markwez Wynn, aged 26, and Stephen Hampton, also aged 26, were taken into custody on June 12, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Both individuals are being held at the Davidson County Downtown Detention Center, facing charges of Robbery 1st Degree. They await extradition to Fayette County.
