19-year-old killed in side-by-side crash on US 25 in Laurel County

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A 19-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a side-by-side in Laurel County early Sunday morning.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, deputies are investigating a single-vehicle, single-occupant fatal crash that happened around 6:45 a.m. on March 15, 2026, on US 25 approximately one mile north of London.

Investigators say a side-by-side was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line, ran off the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned.

Authorities identified the driver as Dennis Johnson III, 19, of London. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.

Deputy Jay Smallwood and Deputy Joey Smith are leading the investigation with assistance from Detective Brad Mink.

Several agencies also responded to the scene, including East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, the London–Laurel County Rescue Squad, Laurel County Department of Public Safety, and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
