19 cited for cockfighting in Calloway County

LYNN GROVE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say they responded to a cockfighting event over the weekend and discovered more than 30 dead gamecocks.

It happened off of Protemus Road in Lynn Grove on Saturday at around 7:30 p.m.

Police say they found 22 people at the scene. Of those, 19 of were cited for cruelty to animals. Thirteen were from Tennessee.

A camper and trailer on the scene were used to house the gamecocks.

The more than 35 live roosters and hens were turned over to the Humane Society of Calloway County.
