16th annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial held in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A day of remembrance for fallen firefighters was observed on Wednesday in Frankfort.
The 16th annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial service honors firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Members of the Kentucky Firefighters Association, Kentucky Professional Firefighters Association, Kentucky Association of Fire Chief’s, Frankfort Fire and EMS, and the Kentucky Fire Commission were all present for the event.
The remembrance included a Red Helmets Courage Ride and s wreath laying service at the Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
Two names were added to the memorial this year. Chief Billy Ray Jarvis died of a heart attack while on the way to an emergency in Floyd County, and Captain Zach Clevenger died after fighting a fire in Estill County.
